Description 

This internship is designed to develop knowledge and clinical skills related to the nutritional management of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). Interns will gain hands-on experience working with renal dietitians and healthcare professionals, supporting patient assessment, education, and diet planning in clinical and community settings.

Tasks 

  • Attend lectures provided by healthcare professionals and teaching staff
  • Observe renal dietitians, nurses, and healthcare providers in clinical settings
  • Conduct nutrition screenings and assist in developing nutrition plans of care
  • Create educational materials and provide nutrition education to CKD patients
  • Design renal-appropriate meal plans for patients across CKD stages 1–5

Supervision and Mentoring

Interns will be supervised by Dr. Anika Avery Grant, RDN, DCN, CSR, Program Director, along with professional healthcare staff including registered dietitians and nurses. Supervision includes clinical mentoring, feedback, and professional development support.

Housing and Meals

  • Housing: Residential housing, shared rooms
  • Meals: 3 per day
