Description 

This internship focuses on community-based health missions and the development of food security programs through gardening initiatives. Interns will collaborate with local churches and health organizations to implement health and wellness programs that serve diverse populations and strengthen community outreach efforts.

Tasks

  • Develop health and nutrition education programs for schools, churches, clinics, and community organizations
  • Create educational materials such as infographics, presentations, brochures, and newsletters
  • Organize and support health fairs, school presentations, and community health screenings
  • Collaborate with local churches and health organizations on wellness initiatives
  • Assist in the initial development of a community food security gardening project

Supervision and Mentoring

Interns will be supervised by Dr. Anika Avery Grant, RDN, DCN, CSR, along with professional staff, church staff, and partnering health organizations. Supervision includes mentoring in program development, implementation, and community engagement.

Housing and Meals

  • Housing: Residential home, shared rooms
  • Meals: 3 per day
